Les Thomas, an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa (TMBC), is of Metis decent.  

He currently serves as the Vice-President of the North Dakota Native Tourism Alliance. He served as the President for the first three years of NDNTA existence. 

He also is the current Tribal Tourism Consultant for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. Mr. Thomas serves on the TMBC Heritage Center as the Vice-President. He served as Vice-Chair of the Pathway to Prosperity Board, which was a 10-million-dollar reduction in poverty program grant, from the Northwest Area Foundation. He served on the International Peace Garden (IPG) Board of Directors the last three years as the first Indigenous member in 90 years of IPG’s existence. He serves as the Co-Chair of the Indigenous Committee under the IPG Board of Directors He is spearheading the Indigenous project at IPG which consists of an interpretive center and powwow arbor, which will host the first International “Peace Powwow” in the world.
